WOAH!!! It has been... quite a hiatus. Honestly, I wish I could explain it in a better way, but my life has just. Kinda sucked for the last month lol. A University I attended forever ago didn't process my withdrawal application correctly and wants to charge me ~7k dollars, so I'm trying to get that sorted, I ened to pay my current university as well, then I got really sick for the last ~week or so, and dealing with normal uni woes and stresses. My comic has kinda taken a bit of a backburner position, but I'm starting to work on it again, so I hope I'll be able to finish chapter 1 soon!!! Regardless, I hope everyone likes it!
If anyone wants to help me out, I'm going to be linking my Patreon and Ko-Fi as well. I know it's a big ask, but any help I could receive would be a massive help for right now, honestly. I'll be posting comic sketches as I make them on there as well, so stay tuned!
(Both of these need to be updated as well, so do keep that in mind as you look through!)

oc-tober 2024 day 10 & 11: personality & symbolism/themes
the kids you probably need to worry about
more leftoverse babies! they're definitely opposites personality-wise, but they both also happen to have the most symbolic roles throughout the story i think? lets just say their journeys include pretty strong pseudo-religious allegories hh
first up is Mia, or registered alias 'Illumia', who will also go by the codename 'Chamialeon' (hence the symbol) during the... not so bright parts of her future career. Which is ironic, because glowing brightly is kind of her main thing! though due to light manipulation, she can also turn invisible, which is why the moniker stuck. she eventually also figures out how to temporarily siphon her target's powers (literally 'stealing their spotlight'), giving her another layer of camouflage.
Mia is high energy even in her broodiest moments (many such cases). among the main cast, she easily draws the most attention and speaks the loudest, even without ever using her voice! she has a wiiild arc as far as archetypes go, changing from spoiled princess to ruthless rebel to spiritual leader by the end of things. she would be a leia stan yeah
alsoooo that is not the actual cover image for 'It's My Turn Now' but there's no way im putting the d*sney logo anywhere near my art lol. i don't know who that man is. Sorry to miss palmer
also2 yeah mushrooms aren't flora my bad. sunflower then
next is Pepin, who usually goes by Piper (and Clyde calls him Pip sometimes). he's the forever baby of the group and my poor precious good boy who can do no wrong!!1! 🥺💚 ok that's not true, he always tries his best and has an empathetic soul, but life's hard when you're the unwilling Chosen One who has to constantly dodge prophecies and legacies while carrying the weight of the world on your tiny shoulders. he goes through sososo much :( i love him sososo much :(
Piper's a real laid-back, pacifist type that keeps getting bombarded by Stress and Duties. as such, he's no stranger to skipping classes/responsibilities to go chill somewhere hidden away from the world, which is usually in a forest due to his affinity with nature. many think his thing is controlling plants and healing, and it certainly looks that way, but more accurately its cellular regeneration control. a talent this impressive puts many targets on his back, but luckily he's in good hands until he decides his own destiny <3

Step 2 Piper bio!!
Piper isn't doing as well as she was when she was younger, but she would never let it show. She's doing her best to keep up her pep and cheerfulness but when the duo that welcomed her into town are at odds with each other and dealing with their own struggles it's almost impossible.
She's a lot of bottled-up emotions that are ready to blow disguised as a happy 14-year-old.

Title: Shake the Dust Fandom: Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous Rating: G Status: One-Shot Main Characters: Knight-Commander Piper Chanterelle, Woljif Jefto Additional Notes: Friendship, Companion Quests, Woljif Gets A Hug Word Count: 1.1k Summary: Woljif has some mysteries to unravel and decisions to make. Piper's not about to let him go through any of that alone.
read below or here on ao3
“I’m coming with you.”
Piper doesn’t use her ‘Commander Voice’- she knows with Woljif, that’s likely to do more harm than good- but her tone still invites no argument. And there is no argument to be made, not even from Woljif, that could convince Piper to let him tackle whatever’s waiting for him in the city all on his own. To his dubious credit, Woljif still tries.
“You really don’t have to do that, chief!” His tail flicks back and forth, betraying the anxiety he’s so obviously trying to mask. “This is my business, and I can take care of myself. No need for you to waste your time getting all mixed up in it!”
Piper crosses her arms, unrelenting. Maybe he’s right: it’s his business, his family, his shadow whispering sinister directions in his ear. If he really wants to handle this on his own, she could easily let him. But Piper knows Woljif, and she knows that if he really didn’t want her involved, he could have easily left in the middle of the night with her being none the wiser. He could have come up with some excuse, however flimsy, that didn’t reveal his shadow’s growing power.
But he didn’t. He came to Piper with truth, and if that’s not a plea for help from somebody like Woljif, nothing is.
Besides, the thought of him wandering off on his own through this demonic city is too much to bear, and Piper knows she’d never forgive herself if something happened to him.
“Well, you didn’t have to drag yourself into the literal Abyss just to keep helping me. But you did.” Piper tilts her head, giving him both a smile and a sharp don’t-argue-with-me-on-this look. “So now it’s time to let me help you. Fair’s fair.”
“You sure?” Woljif’s expression flickers between relief and worry, and he’s obviously trying to hide both behind a veneer of nonchalance even as he bounces on his feet in nervous energy. “It’s not like you owe me anything.”
“I know. But what else are friends for?”
“Friends?” With a laugh, Woljif looks away, waving a hand at Piper’s words. “Aw, come on, chief. You know I don’t believe in stuff like that. But I guess if you really wanna come, I ain’t gonna fight you on it. Always a good idea to have a bodyguard, right?”
And Piper might be offended, if she didn’t catch the embarrassed smile on his face.
Much later- it feels like years, although in reality it can’t have been more than a few hours- Piper and Woljif are standing in the middle of an abandoned mansion with a dead demon and a broken amulet at their feet.
Piper lets out a long, low breath. “Well, that was…a lot.”
“Was it?” Woljif’s voice comes out slightly high-pitched. “Lemme think…” He drops to the ground gracelessly and begins ticking off points on his fingers.
“I found out I really am some sort of prince- guess I owe a lotta people their gold back, huh? I met my grandpa. I killed my grandpa. I coulda gotten myself some grand powers outta the deal, and instead I got this!” He holds up the amulet- or setting, rather, as the jewel Woljif once treasured is now gone.
“A shame we couldn’t save it,” Piper says lightly, kneeling down besides Woljif and tracing a finger over the chain. “But it’s still pretty.”
Woljif chuckles. “Yeah, it’s not so bad. I bet I’ll find an even nicer jewel to fill it once this whole crusade is done with.” He pauses, wrapping and unwrapping the amulet’s cord around his fingers. The repetitive motion seems to calm him, and after a moment he hesitantly adds, “And the funny thing is, I don’t regret getting rid of it. I don’t regret saying no to my grandpa. I think…I think I made the right call, for once.”
The statement is made with quiet confidence- not the loud, brazen picture Woljif usually presents to the world, but something far more sincere.
Piper smiles, and lightly bumps Woljif’s shoulder with her own. “That’s good.” And it is- Piper knows how it feels, to be offered power beyond your greatest dreams. Perhaps it was hypocritical of her to advise him against it; perhaps the fact that he turned it down means he’s stronger than she ever could be. “Woljif?”
“Yeah, chief?”
“I’m proud of you.”
“Thanks, chief. For everything.” Woljif blinks a few times, and if Piper didn’t know any better she might say those are actually tears in his eyes. He continues on, stammering in a shaky voice as if trying to get the words out before he loses his nerve. “I really dunno why you’ve treated me so…I mean, I’m nothin’, and you’re…but yeah, you were right. We’re friends. Actually friends. And you’ve been there for me, more than my own family ever was. So, yeah, thanks, and- I mean, even if I’m not all good with words like you are…”
“Are you kidding? You’re perfect!” Piper exclaims. “Look, everyone else…they mean well, and I love them for it. But with all the politics and angels and royal assholes, you’re one of the few people who’s been keeping me sane.”
“You mean it?” Woljif asks sheepishly, and Piper’s heart nearly breaks. She knows this is all something new for him. And the truth is, it’s new for her, too. Everything in her life has been transient and temporary, and even now she can’t help but wonder how fair-weather her friends are. And Woljif, for all his flaws, understands that- understands Piper- better than anyone else.
“Of course I do. Demonspawn stick together, yeah?” She holds her fist up, and Woljif gives a watery chuckle as he bumps his knuckles against hers.
“We sure do.” Woljif wipes at his eyes and shakes his head. “Look at us. Sittin’ here sniffling like a couple of saps. Must be all the dust floatin' around here. Least we should be doing is robbing this place, right? I know it’s abandoned, but it’s still a mansion, and we’re not leaving a speck of gold behind!”
Piper laughs, and on impulse leans over and wraps Woljif in a hug. She pulls back quickly, slightly embarrassed as she says, “Sorry, I know you don’t really do that-”
But her apology is interrupted when Woljif pulls her back in, clutching her tightly with shaky arms.
“I’ll make an exception for you, chief,” he mutters, his voice thick. “But don’t you go telling nobody.”
Piper grins and hugs him back, trying not to make it obvious that she herself is now starting to tear up. “Wouldn’t dream of it. We came, we killed your grandfather, and we robbed this place blind. No crying at all. Typical thiefling business.”
“You know me well, chief. Guess that’s why we’re friends, huh?”

For use later on...
There was a pretty blonde boy, no older than 25, in one of the chairs. As slender as Fortune, with fine straight hair not far off from silver, and his asymmetrical blazer was something Fortune would wear. The similarities ended there. “Hello,” the boy said. “My name is Sandy. Where would be comfortable for you?” “I'll take the bed,” Piper said uneasily, and sat on its edge. “What would you like to feel?” “I want to be loved.” His voice cracked on it. It was so bare, so damning. “I want to be loved so much that I know he'd give it all up for me. So much that he would tell the world my name and his desperate affection. I just want to be first with him.” “Close your eyes. I'm going to be behind this partition; I’m not watching you. Remember, what you experience is your real emotion. Do what feels right. Tell me when to stop.” And he stepped behind. Piper felt a warm glow right away. Confidence, security, and an unbearable sweetness. He was loved. His love could serve to elevate the world. Nothing was wrong. He lay back. The emotion warmed and enwrapped him. He wasn't sure whether the boy was for sale. He didn't really want the boy. He just wanted this feeling to go on forever, wanted to be so completely certain that he was wanted at a level that could not be faked or forgotten. “Any longer?” the boy said gently. That meant an upcharge.

First four days of OC-tober! Brief rambling under the cut. I enjoy them lots 💖💞
🐙 Day 1: Tide (she/they) - Tide means a lot to me! They were originally created as a Splatoon OC, and I still use them as such in their Splatoon story!.. but I also really enjoy the human / original iteration of them, since I have freedom to work outside of a fandom scene, if that makes sense. They are happy go-lucky, always trying to see the best in people, even when things are tough. Even after all they've been through. Picking a favorite is never easy but they're currently the gummi OC, so it works. I treasure them, and I'm so glad so many people love them as much as I do.
🐱 Day 2: Sun'sae (he/they) - I recently picked up FFXIV to give it a try, since I do enjoy going through MMO kicks from time to time. I instantly got attached. I enjoy my he/they catguy and he keeps running through my head while I craft his story. Still not hugely developed, but I hope to figure out more!
🎵 Day 3: Piper (they/them) - I have plenty of OCs that are much older (including the OC I drew for day 4), but when I think of old OCs of mine, Piper is just so... iconic. My D&D player character for a good couple years until things fizzled out, their story is... just so wild and fun to me still. A rogue/bard multi-class who casts magic through dance, reckless and started out as that classic "brooding and edgy" character who gradually got softer and softer until traumatic things happened and they started to fall off the deep end. Just a little.
🐇 Day 4: Kaires (she/her) - One of my oldest characters ever, and probably the oldest OC I have that I still think about a lot. As mentioned, she could have gone into the previous category. She's been redesigned a LOT over the past 12 years though-- more than any other OC I've had-- that I felt it was more apt to put her here. She went from being a fandom OC to human, to differently-designed human, to rabbit hybrid, to a wererabbit, design always changing a lot as I went. I really enjoy where her design has landed, and I think this is where she'll be staying.
Questions are welcome if anyone feels inclined! I always love talking about them

Title: Two Sides of a Coin Fandom: Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous Rating: G Status: One-Shot Main Characters: Knight-Commander Piper Chanterelle, Daeran Arendae Additional Notes: Companion Quests, Frenemies Word Count: 870 Summary: The Other is gone, but questions still linger. Piper does her best to provide some answers.
read below or here on ao3
Piper and Daeran don’t actually talk much in the immediate aftermath of their battle with the Other. Piper, for her part, is exhausted, and Daeran- well, Daeran seems to be going through approximately four different types of existential crises all at once.
So they both take some time to breathe, and it’s not until they’re back in Drezen that Piper initiates the conversation. She finds Daeran on the balcony of the war room, overlooking the city with an uncharacteristically contemplative expression.
“Angel Boy,” she says by way of greeting, hoping to lighten the mood with their usual jibes.
Despite her efforts, Daeran’s posture straightens quickly- he’s still wary, still on edge, and Piper can’t blame him. But of course he tries not to let his nerves show, and greets her in his usual glib manner.
“Demon Girl.” He leans against the balcony railing, face turned away from Piper, and with no small amount of annoyance she realizes that he won’t speak of any of what just happened unless she brings it up herself.
“So…how are you feeling?”
Daeran considers the question, and for the first time the tension leaves his shoulders, just a bit. “Different.” He closes his eyes, and takes a deep breath. “Free.”
“That sounds…good?”
“It is.” Daeran opens his eyes once more, appears to steel himself, and for the first time since they’ve returned to the city turns to look Piper in the face. “You know, for a while there I truly did believe you intended to kill me.”
“Yes, that was the idea.”
“You were very convincing.”
“I’m an actress,” Piper replies loftily, tossing her hair back with a smirk. Daeran raises an eyebrow at her, and she sighs. “And maybe that particular role wasn’t very challenging, because you are an entitled, insufferable ass. Still…sorry. It did get a bit more intense than I intended.”
Daeran’s expression flickers for just a moment to something vulnerable- and then just as quickly shifts to a satisfied smirk. “Don’t you dare apologize. I have a reputation to uphold, after all. Entitled, insufferable ass is my signature. I was afraid that all this do-gooding in the Crusades may have ruined it.”
“See, that? That’s why it’s so easy to believe people want to kill you.”
Piper expects Daeran to return her barb with one of his own, or to claim that his manner is somehow charming. But instead, he asks, “So why didn’t you?”
Piper’s surprise must show on her face, because Daeran huffs and pushes the question. “Come now, we both know we each have plenty of complaints about the other. Why go through the trouble of all this? If your concern was the potential evil that could be done by the Other, why did you never try to vanquish it by simply disposing of me? Why protect me, even after it was gone? I have done nothing to deserve this. I wasn’t even sure you counted me as a friend. And seeing as it's my life, I feel I deserve to know the truth of it. So...why?”
Daeran stares at Piper, waiting for an answer...and she’s not certain she has one. True, they have grown closer over the course of the Crusade, and she knows there is more to him than the rich, spoiled fool she saw when they first met. But for all their understanding of each other, there are still things about the man that Piper cannot stand.
Because everything he said is true. He has made countless mistakes, some of them on purpose. He has hurt people. He is flippant and shallow and prone to breaking things through his own carelessness. He is petty, and sometimes cruel. He hides away the parts of himself that might actually be called sincere, he flaunts his flaws with pride, he lies as easily as breathing.
In so many ways, he is just like Piper. That is the worst thing about him.
But for all of her talent with words, Piper can’t convey any of that in any way that makes sense. So she takes a long moment, attempting to sort out her thoughts as her eyes drift across the shapes of the city below them.
“Don’t get me wrong," she says at last. "You’re still an entitled ass. But you’re my entitled ass. I’m not going to let anyone hurt you, and I’m not going to let anyone lock you up. It’s as simple as that.”
Daeran smiles, and it’s the most honest Piper has ever seen him look. “Thank you.”
And then just like that, it’s gone, replaced by a smug grin as he adds, “I knew that even you couldn’t resist my charms, Demon Girl. Seems you’ll be wanting to have me around for a while.”
Piper scoffs and rolls her eyes. “Don’t get too comfortable, Angel Boy. I trust you more than I trust any Inquisitor, but that is not a very high bar. Besides, there’s still a war to win, and despite everything I’ve said I’m really only keeping you around for your endless supply of money and your supernatural powers.”
Her retort is answered with a chuckle as Daeran nods in acknowledgement. “I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
